One of the best ways to make a good first impression is by having a nice looking portfolio. Especially, when you are reaching out to someone over the internet. Here are 5 things to inlude on your portfolio to increase your chances of landing that dream job!
No. 1 A Good Template
No need to create a full on website, get a google slides template and you are good to go! If you type in “Google Slides Templates” into google and it will pull up hundreds of adorable templates. Grab a template that is cute, fun, and makes you think of the influencer world.
No. 2 A Picture of Yourself
A picture of yourself could arguably be the most important thing to include on your portfolio in my opinion. Especially, if you are reaching out to a person for the first time over email. Having a picture of yourself on there allows them to put a face to the words before your first meeting. This is the image I currently have in mine:
It’s a little out of date, I haven’t had to send someone my portfolio for quite a while now.

No. 3 References
References are AMAZING! I always try to include at least 3. If you have references from those already in this industry defnitely include those! If you have no industry experience, include people in your references that can vouch for you being creative, hard-working, trustworthy, etc. These are all qualities that people look for in this industry. Especially the trustworthy characteristinc. That is definitely the most important! These girls/guys have their entire livelihoods on the internet that they will be allowing you acess to. They have to be confident to know that you won’t do anything to mess that up.
No. 4 Examples of Work

Here is what this slide on my portfolio looks like. Examples of work really only applies to those who offer creative services (graphics) and results driven services. If you don’t offer either of those, then you don’t really have anything to show (which is totally okay)! If examples of work applies to you then include some of your favorite pieces! The ones from my portfolio above showcase one of my boutique pinterest pins (that I thought was AMAZING at the time), one of my roundup graphics, and a creative service I provided where I would brand instagram feeds.
Other Things to Think About
Keep it short. My portfolio is 3 slides long. Include your intro slide, an example of work slide/services you provide, and on the last slide include your references and points on why they should hire you.
Time is valuable, and no one wants to sit through a 20 page slideshow.
Don’t make them ask for your portfolio. You want to make this easy and accessible for them. On your first email you send them include your portfolio attached at the bottom. If you want more info on how to craft your first initial email you can view that blog post here.
