If you are interested in getting into the influencer assistant industry, it is important to know a little bit of background on the industry. One of the key points is how they make money. Influencers can make money from many different avenues, but listed below are a few of the main ones I work on daily.
Affiliate Links
Affiliate links are personalized product links that pay out a commission when an item is perchused throught that personalized link. The links are individualized to each creator. Two of the main platforms that influencers do these through is LiketoKnowit and Amazon Affiliate. Businesses may also work with an influencer directly and give them a commission or gift card when items are purchased using a specific code.
This may sound familiar if you follow any influencers online. Almost daily creators will share what they are wearing and say “you can shop this all by clicking this link,” or by saying “use code: KATE15 at checkout!” Both of those are instances when affiliate marketing is taking place.
Brand Sponsorships
Brand sponsorships are when a brand pays an individual to share their product/service on socials. This could be a sponsored video on youtube, a few sponsored slides on instagram stories, or a tiktok post! Any platform that an influencer has a following on can be requested for a brand sponsorship!
That is why you may notice that your favorite influencer is on all the social apps, has a youtube channel, website, podcast, etc. The more platforms they have the more platforms they are able to potentially monetize.

Creating Products
Why share other brands when you could be sharing your own? A lot of influencers have this mindset when it comes to creating their own product. For example, Dani Austin, a well known influencer just came out with her own hair care line “divi.”
So instead of only making a small percentage for when you share a brand’s product, you can make the full profit by sharing your own!
Creator Funds
Popular apps like Instagram and Tiktok give you the oppurtunity to monetize your short form videos. However, many creators do not do this because it has been shown that it may “shadowban” your content. Shadowban is a term that is used when a creator believes the platform is not pushing out their content. Personally, I think it is better if you skip over these “creator funds” and keep working to build your audience until you start receiving brand deals!
Above I listed all the major platforms that influencers make money on. Did I miss any?? If so, comment down below!
Thank you guys so much for reading,
